Wow! That sounds like fun! Uh… actually I mean the birds called kites, not the colorful air sailing thingies on string.
Still, the kites I'm talking about are pretty cool. I think they are Black Kites, though there are Red Kites in India as well. They ride the updrafts along the side of the building I work in. sometimes they are just a few feet outside my window. This is a pretty bad video, but shows them flying not too far away. I'll try to get something better if I am quick enough to capture it next time.
